Lineage & Method of PTK-SMF

Preserved through the Tortal family, transmitted by Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje Jr., and carried forward today by Tuhon Tim Waid, PTK-SMF is taught through a combat-tested pedagogy rooted in blade dynamics and applied across all ranges of fighting.

The Lineage

Pekiti-Tirsia Kali originates from the Tortal family of the Philippines, a combat tradition refined across generations. Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje Jr. inherited the system from his grandfather, Conrado Tortal, and has devoted his life to preserving its combat integrity and promoting it worldwide.

Appointed by Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje Jr., Tuhon Tim Waid serves as the designated representative of the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali system and its pedagogy.

What Defines the Training

PTK-SMF is not built on fixed forms. Its method is defined by dynamic exchange — combat drills, active resistance, mutual adaptation, and sparring that train timing, judgment, and precision against resisting opponents. The same principles that govern blade combat inform the boxing, footwork, and tactical training practiced today.

This approach develops:

• Clarity under pressure — decision-making shaped by real timing and the OODA loop.

• Nervous system conditioning — the capacity to channel heightened intensity into calm perception and precise action.

• Transferable skill — mechanics rooted in blade geometry that sharpen awareness across all ranges of combat.
